All Open Burning Prohibited

Effective at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, July 23, 2026, all open burning will be prohibited within the City of Greenwood.

This includes:

Campfires of any size

Category 2 and Category 3 open fires

Burn barrels and burn cages

Fireworks

Sky lanterns

Binary exploding targets

Air curtain burners, carbonizers and controlled air incinerators

Wood-fired hot tubs, wood-fired pizza ovens and other wood-fired devices, unless properly vented through a flue incorporated into a building

All existing campfires and open fires must be completely extinguished by the noon deadline.

CSA-rated or ULC-rated outdoor stoves that burn charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel may continue to be used, provided the flame height is less than 15 centimetres. Please use extreme caution and never leave any heat or flame source unattended.

The prohibition is intended to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires and protect public safety. It will remain in effect until 12:00 p.m. on October 31, 2026, or until the prohibition is rescinded.

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given, that, in accordance with section 71 of the Local Government Act, advance registration of electors will close at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 for voting in the 2026 General Local Elections for the following positions:

1 Mayor Position

4 Councillor Positions

Persons wishing to register in advance as resident electors for voting in the 2026 General Local Elections may do so by contacting Elections BC toll-free at 1-800-661-8683 or by using the online voter registration system at www.elections.bc.ca/ovr. Following the close of advance registration persons may only apply to register at the time of voting.

OBJECTION TO REGISTRATION OF AN ELECTOR

Objections to the registration of a person as an elector may be made by qualified electors until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026.
