RECREATION: -MOUNTAIN BIKING and HIKING: Trans Canada Trail- From the Kettle Valley Museum in Midway, BC to Castlegar, this was the Columbia & Western Railway. Built by the Canadian Pacific Railway, it was abandoned in 1988 and donated to be turned into a Recreation Trail in March 2000. The 2 trestles have now been decked and railed for your safety! TrailsBC has an excellent map of our region of the Trail from the Kettle River Recreation Area to Eholt, Greenwood is a Gateway Community to the Trans Canada Trail. Some nice day trips can be planned from Greenwood. Also try "Cycling the Kettle Valley" by Dan and Sandra Langford. Probably the BEST book on Mountain Biking on the the Trans Canada Trail and the Kettle Valley Railway . Also check out the Vancouver Victoria & Eastern Phoenix Branch for a more adventurous trip! -Boundary Creek Nature Walk- Takes you on loops and links parallel to the Trans Canada Trail, closer to Boundary Creek, you can observe many species birds and wildlife, Maybe even try your luck at fishing. Please follow all rules and pick up a copy of the BC Fishing Regulations. - -Boundary Forest District Trails- You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to read these and print them BOUNDARY FOREST DISTRICT CAMP SITES -Providence (Marshall) Lake Recreation Site Phoenix Interpretive Forest Trails- This Link takes you to the Phoenix Interpretive Forest and History Trail CAMPING BC PARKS: BC PARKS- in the Boundary Country. Just click on the name and have a visit! -Boundary Creek Provincial Park 18 sites -Jewel Lake Provincial Park 26 sites -Granby Provincial Park No developed sites -Gladstone Provincial Park 49 sites at Texas Creek (On Line Reservations) -Conkle Lake Provincial Park 34 sites -Johnstone Creek Provincial Park 16 sites -Kettle River Recreation Area 53 sites (On Line Reservations)
