My husband and I, along with our 4 children spent happy years living in Greenwood from 1964 till about 1969. It was a wonderful town and we still have dear friends there. We lived in what was called Woodgreen Crescent in those days. A nice place to visit again. Thanks, Terrill MacDonald

Hello and thank-you for some interesting history facts. Was really interested in Eholt portion of your site. Approximatly 1909-19?? My foster dad and his family, moved to Eholt for the first few yrs of their lives. Nels and Anna Tofelt along with their parents migrated from (Sulstromd Sweden) to in which I have no idea what their names were.Momma Tofelt worked the post office there, and thats about all that was told to me when i was growing up. Throught out the yrs My foster dad and a close friend of the family Ed Wood of Grand Forks and myself Mickey Tofelt would take day trips out to the surrounding areas. I was wondering if there may be some more on Eholt? if so, would it be possible to have info sent to me? mmmetofelt85@hotmail.com Or #119 Woodborough Rd. S.W. Calgary A.B. t2w-5c2. Thank-you. Hello, The website is awesome and has so much information. I'm sharing it with my friend in Holland, who is very interested in history - specifically history from WW2. I was also in your beautiful city recently and toured your museum. I was very impressed with the staff - friendly, helpful and they created a relaxing atmosphere. The museum is beautiful, full of history and was wonderful to tour. Thank-you. :) ~Bev~

Visited your museum several years ago and truly loved it. My parents lived in Phoenix and also Deadwood from about 1910 through 1918. My 97-year-old aunt, Phyllis Moran still remembers her pre-adolescent years in and around Greenwood. After the mines closed, like so many other families, they simply left their house and settled in the Philadelphia area. Jim Moran Bala Cynwyd, Pa.

I was looking for some information on David Sevendeers, an artist/sculpturer from your town, who has worked several times in my country. Sorry for him his city does not mention him or his Academy. Ernst Koepke, Bochum, Germany

wow! Wow!Thanks to this web site I am cracking some big nuts and finding pieces for my jigsaw puzzle of research on a young Swede who was and probably worked in the area in 1900 to 1903. Worked in Granby, which I didn't know where it was and had friends named Munroe in Greenwood and/ or Phoenix. Other known names Sally Carr,Donald MacKertcher and Harry Macfie. Any clues? I have three documents from the ghost town of Phoenix, B.C., which I picked up at the site on a visit in 1952.All three are from the Grandby Consolidated Mining, Smelting and Power Co., Limited. One is a "Record of Ore" dated March 2, 1904, another is a "Daily Report of Shift Boss" for #3 Tunnel, 11PM shift dated September 21, 1909. The third as a "Monthly Time Statement" for E. Clayton. Would the museum be interested in having these documents? Ed Toop E-mail: etoop@shaw.ca

March 30, 2005 My family traveled through the area in the mid 1970's looking for any sign of my great uncle Winfield C. Stryker. We looked for the location of Eholt and tried to invision a bustling community during the height of the mining era in the fields that were then being cropped. He lived at the Hotel Union in Eholt for a time in late 1905. At least that is the letter head on the stationery he used when writing to his sister. He worked on the Granby Switch Engine. I have been intrigued by the regions ghost towns. I would like to find any trace of my great uncle's path. If anyone should know information about the movement of the workers contact me at BevJoanK@netscape.net. Thanks, Beverly Keicher
