The Greenwood Firehall is a fine example of a construction style which was prominent in mining towns in the 19th century. Such buildings went up as quickly as possible, often within one month using locally available building materials. During the Internment years this was known as #-10 building. When the original school burnt down in 1951 this building served as a temporary schoolhouse.
