West Kootenay Power Building Project, Anaconda, BC

The Heritage Development Organization is the group responsible for the management and development of the former West Kootenay Power building (Greenwood Sub-Station 1906) located in Anaconda on the south boundary of the Greenwood city limits.  Subsequent to relocating their offices to Grand Forks, BC,  West Kootenay Power donated the building to community organizations for preservation and development at the celebration of Greenwood's 100th birthday on July 12, 1997.  The Heritage Development Organization consists of one voting representative from each of the organizations party to the agreement.  They are City of Greenwood, Greenwood Community Association, Greenwood Board of Trade, Greenwood Improvement Society and Greenwood Heritage Society.  Visit the Alternate Energy site.

The first reports of a study funded by Community Enterprise Program were presented at the public review meeting held in Greenwood on March 7, 2001 and are available for viewing or downloading.  The committee meets once a month at City Council chambers on the second Wednesday at 3PM. Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings. Dates may changes due to other conflicts, you may contact Colleen Lang to confirm date of next meeting.
